Hydrated Skin Is Happy Skin!

Personally, I think that if your skin isn’t looking dewy and healthy a killer outfit loses its impact and that’s not acceptable in my book!  A goddess should shine.

During the party season we tend to drink more alcohol, sleep less and eat differently all of which damages our skin. Now I don’t doubt the fun is worth it but we need to counteract the effects of these good nights by ramping up our skin regime.

The harming effects from consuming too much alcohol on our skin is not to be ignored.  Our skin becomes dehydrated, and the fluid lost can lead to puffiness and a dry appearance.  We can also sometimes forget that the excess sugar especially with beer and wine damages the DNA and collagen in the skin.  Yep, and this can lead to more rapid ageing which quite frankly we don’t want.

We need therefore to up our skin care routine to include hydrating products such as serums and face masks.  I love Japanese and Korean skin products as they focus on feeding the skin and they have a nourishing philosophy by thorough but gentle cleansing and application of multiple hydrating layers.  They also use masks on a regular basis which is something I don’t think we in the UK generally stick to.

My interest in budget skincare was first captured with the hugely successful launch of The Ordinary skin care range and I was especially impressed with their hyaluronic acid serum.

When I test a new product I like to use it for a good few weeks before I write a review – one use of a product doesn’t normally tell me much.  Also, if I receive a skin compliment that’s always a good sign that whatever I am using at the time is working and that’s exactly what happened the other day.

I have been testing budget range Hado Labo Tokyo Anti-Aging Facial Sheet Masks with super hyaluronic acid, retinol, and collagen.  The recommended usage is 1 – 3 sheets per week and you need to leave the sheet mask on for 15 mins.  Presently, they are priced at a steal for £2.24 at Superdrug.  I also liked the look of their Skin Plumping Gel as it contained 3 types of hyaluronic acid my favourite skin ingredient ever!  And at a price of £14.99 I thought it was worth a try.

I’ve been using the masks religiously and adding the Skin Plumping gel to my morning routine and my skin lady recently commented that my skin was glowing so much it was “looking like it is lit from within”, wow! That comment prompted me to share my findings on these fabulous skin care products immediately.

I am in love with these two products and they are worth buying.  I recommend that you use a face mask 3 times per week as I don’t think your skin will benefit with just once a week.  You also need to add a couple of layers of the gel after your serums in the morning.  Don’t be stingy, a generous application is always best for these types of products. I don’t think it takes much effort to add a face mask to your evening routine and your skin will love you for it.

Your skin does not need to be stressed! If you’re noticing your skin is looking stressed out or tired, try these products and I bet you will notice a difference.

Think… hydrate, hydrate, and HYDRATE!
